Local 710 Health & Welfare Fund Trustees Expand Extended Healthcare Coverage for Laid Off Participants
MOKENA, IL | Yesterday, the Trustees to the Local 710 Health & Welfare Fund voted to expand the extended healthcare coverage for laid off employees by an additional four weeks for a total of eight weeks of extended coverage.
“We are continually reviewing and consulting on various benefits provided by the 710 Health & Welfare Plan to do everything we can to alleviate the burdens so many are facing,” said Plan Co-Chair and Local 710 Secretary-Treasurer Mike Cales. “I was pleased at the beginning of the month when we secured the additional four weeks of coverage for our participants, but I wanted to take it another step further, and another – so I am extremely happy to report that we are able to expand on our earlier work.”
The Union Trustees had previously secured an extension of benefits for laid off participants for four weeks at the beginning of April.
Participants to the 710 Plan as of March 28, 2020 who are laid off on or after March 29, 2020 shall be eligible to receive the same coverage under the plan for a total of eight weeks at no cost to the member or their employer. These eight weeks may be used anytime between March 28 and December 31, 2020 to help the member retain continual healthcare benefits.
