It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Brother Nick Golich. Nick was a 35-year member of Local 710 and longtime steward at Roadway/YRC in Chicago Heights. He was an over-the-road driver with an incredible 3-million+ accident-free miles driven.

Brother Golich lived for this this Local. He was a familiar face at just about every single union meeting and training at the hall, usually found slouched back in his chair with his arms folded. While Nick was a self-proclaimed curmudgeon who survived on coffee, he was one of the nicest, most genuine Teamsters anyone had the pleasure to meet who would do anything to help a fellow brother or sister out. He was never afraid to tell you exactly what was on his mind, whether you would like it or not. He is a true inspiration to all Union members, and his passion and dedication to Local 710 will never be forgotten. Everyone at Local 710 sends all of our thoughts and prayers to Nick’s family and everyone who called him a friend.

Nicholas J. Golich

Age 67 of New Lenox passed away Friday, February 09, 2024, at UI Health, Chicago, IL. Nick was born in Chicago to Nicholas and Geraldine (nee Kramer) Golich. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Hayes) Golich; loving father of Nicholas Golich, Emily Golich, and Kaitlyn (Kevin Otte) Golich; cherished son of Geraldine and the late Martin “Marty” Keane and the late Nicholas Golich; dear brother of Steven (Lorie) Golich, Karen (Kevin) Gyrion, Kathleen (Ray) Chigaros-Miller, and Kristin (John) Maples; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Nick was a truck driver and a 35-year member of Teamsters Local #710, retiring in 2023. He was also a former union steward. Nick will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers memorials in Nick’s name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:00pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:30pm.
