Local 710 Kicks Off UPS Tour Ahead of Negotiations
Teamsters Discuss Issues, Draft Contract Proposals
MOKENA, IL | Teamsters Local 710 is gearing up for negotiations with UPS in 2023. Business Agents, Officers, Staff, and Stewards are meeting up with members at each one of 710’s 45 buildings as a group to discuss the issues and collect proposals.
“We’re holding true to our promise to go out to every single building so members have an opportunity to speak their mind about their contract and have some open dialogue with the whole team,” said President Del Schaefer. “We know there are a lot of problems that need correcting in this next contract, and hearing about them straight from the members is crucial to getting the strongest contract yet.”
The UPS tour is on top of the Business Agents’ regular visits out to the UPS facilities and is ongoing throughout the next few months. The first two weeks kicked off with visits to Olney, Evansville, Huntingburg, Washington, Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, Lafayette, and Kokomo.
“2023 is right around the corner – we will be well prepared to meet UPS at the bargaining table and bring the voices of all our UPSers with us,” said Secretary-Treasurer Mike Cales. “We’re committed to securing the best contract possible for our members, and that starts with getting everyone involved from the ground up.”
Local 710 has its own collective bargaining agreement with UPS that is separate from the National agreement that covers more than 6,500 Teamsters throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. Both 710’s and the National agreements expire July 31, 2023.
Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25 and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, providing strong Union representation to more than 13,500 members across the midwest.
