NOTICE THAT CHALLENGED BALLOT RESOLUTION IS NOT REQUIRED AND OF DECEMBER 3, 2021 DEADLINE FOR FILING POST-ELECTION PROTESTS

On November 18, 2021, the Office of the Election Supervisor (“OES”) completed the tabulation of ballots cast for all contested positions in the 2021 Election of IBT International Union Officers. At the conclusion of ballot tabulation, OES registered the following number of challenged ballots:

Region Narrowest Winning Margin Challenged Ballots
At-Large 53,247 11,830
Central 20,407 3,045
East 24,112 3,637
South 7,323 1,052
West 5,397 3,406

The narrowest winning margin in each of the regional contests exceeded the number of challenged ballots in the region. Accordingly, there was no need to resolve the eligibility status of members who returned ballots subject to challenge. The tabulation of ballots is therefore complete and final as of November 18, 2021.

Accordingly, OES announced the results of the International officer election on November 18, 2021, and the 15-day period for post-election protests “concerning election day or post election day conduct” starts as of that date. See 2021 Election Rules, Article XIII, Section 3(a)(2). The filing period ends 15 calendar days (see 2021 Election Rules, Definition 11) after the announcement of results, i.e., on December 3, 2021.
