Teamsters Local 710 Remembers Brother Roger Kelley, Sr.
Our Local 710 family lost a true Teamster brother and dear friend, Brother Roger D. Kelley, Sr.
Roger was a union member for nearly four decades, starting his union career as a driver for Consolidated Freight in 1979. He worked as a Business Agent for Local 710 for 17 years, proudly representing members across a variety of industries. It was clear that Roger cared very deeply for his members; he worked diligently to ensure their rights were protected in the workplace and that they were being treated fairly. He was extremely personable and a great listener who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Roger was also a deeply devoted family man. He was a beloved husband to his wife of more than 30 years, Betty, and an involved and passionate father to their three kids, Roger Jr., Katie, and Megan. Just last year, Roger became a grandfather when his grandson, Roger D. Kelley, III was born. He was also known for being a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and was very often seen cheering on the IC Catholic Prep football team that his son Roger coaches.
We will forever miss Roger; he holds a very special place in all of our hearts. His fierce kindness and warm smile will never be forgotten at Local 710. He put up an incredible fight through the very end, and we take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace. Our most sincere thoughts and prayers are with Betty, his kids, and his grandson. Rest in peace, brother.
