Apply for the 2018 James R. Hoffa Memorial Fund Scholarship

James R. Hoffa became a Teamster Member in 1934, served as General President for 14 years, and, in recognition of his tireless service to the union, was honored as General President Emeritus for life. At the November 1999 General Executive Board meeting, then-General Secretary-Treasurer C. Thomas Keegel presented a resolution to establish the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Academic Scholarship

To be eligible for the Academic Scholarship award, you must:

  • be a current high school senior who plans to enroll in a four-year college/university within the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada in fall 2018.
  • be a dependent son, daughter or financial dependent of Teamster member in good-standing.
  • be in the top 15% of your high school class.
  • be able to submit excellent ACT or SAT scores (US applicants only)

Training and Vocational Programs Scholarship

To be eligible for the Training and Vocational Scholarship award, you must:

  • plan to attend an accredited training or vocational non-baccalaureate program at a community college or other training institution, within the United States, Puerto Rico or Canada.
  • training or vocational programs must be related to work in a Teamster represented industry, class or craft.
  • be a dependent son, daughter or financial dependent of Teamster member in good-standing.
