Three Slates Running in Officers Election at Teamsters Local 710
Nomination Meeting Draws More Than 500 Teamsters to the Union Hall
More than 500 Teamsters Local 710 members gathered this past Sunday at the official meeting for the nomination of new local union officers. The election will be determined via mailed secret ballots to be counted starting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
The meeting was chaired by Thomas Conelias, Trustee of Local 710, and Maralin Falik, the Election Supervisor. Falik accepted write-in nominations at the beginning of the meeting and took nominations from the floor. Each speaker was allotted 30 seconds to speak on the candidate they were nominating or seconding, or to accept a nomination.
The meeting concluded with a total of three slates running for office, with no candidates running independently. Each slate consists of a Secretary-Treasurer to serve as principal officer of the local union, as well as President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, three Trustees and four Business Agents. The slates will be listed on the ballots in the following order per the drawing done at the candidate’s meeting:
- 710 Members First
- Rebuild 710
- Restore the Pride
It was great to see so many members getting involved in their local. The passion from these Teamsters for their union is truly inspiring, and I wish all candidates luck in their election.
Thomas Conelias
Local 710 Trustee
Ballots will be mailed to all active Local 710 Teamsters on or about October 5. Members who do not receive a ballot by October 10 should contact the Office of the Election Supervisor for a duplicate ballot at (800) 864-1263.
