Teamsters Local 710 UPS business agents were extremely successful at panel last Thursday, securing more than $13,500 from the company in lost wages for UPS members in Belleville and Alton on 9.5 grievances.
Per the superior language in the Local 710 UPS contract, UPS is subject to the grievance procedure whenever it forces a member to work nine-and-one-half hours or more on at least three of five days they are scheduled to work.
Our language is crystal clear regarding 9.5’s, and yet the company continues to ignore it. We are actively pursuing every possible action afforded to us by our contract to end this abuse. The determination of our members coupled with this kind of payout in just two buildings is definitely giving UPS a wake-up call – we’re not screwing around.

Fifty grievances were filed from UPS Belleville alone, with more than $10,300 being returned to those members. The remaining $2,600 was recouped for members at UPS Alton. Local 710 UPS members are encouraged to contact their business agent immediately if they are experiencing this issue and to continue to file grievances on the matter.
