Railway Industrial Services Teamsters to Return to Bargaining Table

Employer Open to Resume Discussions with Local 710 in Response to Ongoing Strike

After 31 days of unity on the picket line, Teamsters Local 710 members on strike at Railway Industrial Services will soon return to the bargaining table with their employer.

The Company’s General Manager submitted a letter to Local 710 withdrawing their last, best and final offer, writing that they remain “open to further discussions with the goal of arriving at a new collective bargaining agreement.”

The 74 Local 710 members have been on strike since January 17.

“This goes to show that persistence really does pay off,” said Local 710 Business Agent Mike Ramirez. “These members are so incredibly strong and have continued to stand together, showing the same level of solidarity on day 31 as on day one. We’re optimistic that we’ll finally get the respect we deserve, and we’re ecstatic to return to the bargaining table and come to an agreement that the members can be proud of.”

Counsel for Local 710 is coordinating with a mediator to schedule a date to resume negotiations as soon as possible. Questions may be directed to Ramirez or Business Agent Mike Cales at (773) 254-3200.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
