James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund 2016 Essay Contest
Application and Essay Must Be Received by June 15, 2016
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest is open to college students meeting the following criteria:
- Be the son, daughter or financial dependent of an eligible Teamster member (including BLET, BMWED and GCC members), hereafter also referred to as “Teamster Member Relation”;
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college, university or community college program, or a technical or vocational program;
- Be 23 years old or younger by June 15, 2016.
This year’s essay topic is:
“What has living in a Teamster household meant to me and my siblings?”
All applicants must use the Essay Contest application and return it, along with their essay to be received by June 15, 2016.

Last year, Jessica Demma, daughter of Local 710 member Joseph Demma at Standard Forwarding, won the contest for her essay on the 2015 topic, “What impact would an increase in union membership have on the U.S. economy and the middle class?”
