Teamsters Local 710 Overturns Termination at AWC TLX

Member Returns to Work with More Than $11,000 in Back Pay and Benefits

A Teamsters Local 710 member on the Shuttle Crew at AWC TLX (formerly known as Translogix) recently returned to work after being unfairly discharged in the beginning of February.

Local 710 Business Agent Anthony Lamy recently began representing members at the Chicago facility and immediately began reviewing outstanding issues. Upon conducting an investigation, Lamy found that the member’s termination was unjust and filed a grievance. “After my review, it was clear to me that this member should not have been terminated. I moved quickly to get the member back to work as soon as possible – he had already been out of work for nearly two months,” said Lamy.

The grievance was heard at the local level hearing on Tuesday, April 12 and was settled in favor of the union. The member was reinstated with full back pay and benefits totaling $11,344.10.

Even after just a few weeks newly representing these workers, Anthony dove right in to ensure our members there are being protected. He has been carefully checking issues at AWC TLX to make sure no stone is left unturned and preserve our members’ rights.
