Teamsters Secure Wage and Retirement Increases, Additional Personal Day

Edward Don Drivers

Thirty-one drivers at Edward Don have ratified a new four-year agreement by an overwhelming 12-to-1 margin. The new contract is in effect from April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2020.

Union Steward Bob Boszko and I worked extremely hard reach a solid tentative agreement on time. We were able to schedule enough meetings with the employer,

allowing us to address every issue the members had to secure well-deserved benefits.

Teamsters will see wage increases totaling $3.10 per hour over the length of the agreement, with increased employer contributions to members’ 401(k) plans as well. Local 710 also maintained language that the company will continue to contribute to members’ health and welfare plans and will receive an additional personal day in the second year of the contract.

“We’re working hard to get contracts done without members having to worry about endless extension agreements” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “This method shows employers that Local 710 means business and strengthens the very contracts we negotiate and enforce.”

Local 710 represents the drivers and approximately 60 warehouse workers who handle the distribution of foodservice equipment and supplies at the Woodridge, Ill. distribution center.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
