Local 710 Stands Firm at the Bargaining Table for Jewel Negotiations
Teamsters Look for Documentation of Employer’s Presented Issues
The Teamsters Local 710 Jewel Bargaining committee met again today in Park Ridge to continue negotiations for the two upcoming contracts.
Local 710 provided the employer with copies of the contracts and went through each proposed change, addition and housekeeping elements of both the driver and warehouse contracts.
After reviewing proposals, both parties approved the housekeeping and changes to language regarding vacation time in a calendar year as proposed by the union. The Local 710 committee stood behind all proposals as they submitted where the employer had conflicting proposals. The committee also rejected nearly all additional proposals as submitted by the employer.
This is an opportunity to get a completely different culture all the way through.
The main point of everything we’re doing here is to get the company to start following the contract. We want the employer to demonstrate where issues are with documentation before we can understand their proposals.
