Local 710 Jewel Bargaining Committee Meets to Finalize Proposals

Teamsters Thoroughly Prepare Contract-Ready Language for Each New Agreement

The Teamsters Local 710 Bargaining Committee for Jewel met Friday, January 15 to finalize initial proposals with contract-ready language for both the Driver and Warehouse contracts. Both contracts are set to expire March 6.

The committee went through each contract article-by-article for various housekeeping changes and added proposals that were summarized at the first bargaining session on Wednesday, January 12. The next negotiation session is scheduled for 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 20 in Park Ridge, Ill.

“This group is working extremely hard to prepare proposals that address many issues our members have had,” said Demetrius Morton, Business Agent for Local 710 Jewel Members. “We’re heading back to the bargaining table with thought-out proposals to work towards strong Teamster contracts.”

The two Local 710 contracts for Jewel cover nearly 1,000 drivers and warehouse workers who operate out of facilities in Melrose Park, Ill.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
