Teamsters Local 710 Remembers Frank Wsol Sr.
Frank Wsol Sr. past head of Teamsters Local Union 710, died Sunday December 6th, 2015, at the age of 89. Wsol Sr. served in the United States Army 46th Air Service Group. He joined the Teamsters Union in 1946 and rose through the ranks to become Secretary–Treasurer of Teamsters Local Union 710 in 1993.
His ability to coordinate the merger of Teamsters Local 710 with the Independent Chicago Truck Drivers Union in 2000 was one of his many successes. After that merger, Teamsters Local Union 710 grew to become one of the largest Teamster Local Unions in the country. He believed that by being active in federal, state and local politics, the union membership was bettered served. He supported political candidates regardless of affiliation that were willing to show their support for Teamster members and their families.
As a Teamster leader he always looked for opportunities to help the working men and women that he represented working from a simple philosophy: “We support those who support us” and “The members always come first.” He was dedicated to helping those within his “Team” at Local 710 and forever loyal to those he worked with and for. He believed in fairness and fought to help workers achieve respectable standards of living while understanding the importance of a healthy trucking industry.
While dedicating his life to the working men and women he represented, he supported many worthy charitable causes including The Little City Foundation, Chicago’s Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Children’s Advocacy Center and many others. He was a member of Teamsters Neer-Goudie American Legion Post #846.
