Local 710 Wins Approximately $10,000 for Members Through Pay Claims

Majority of Grievances at Record-Setting Panel Resolved in Favor of Teamsters

The Teamsters Local 710 UPS Team had a record agenda for the grievance panel held November 12th – nearly 300 grievances on the docket. An overwhelming amount of those were resolved in favor of the union without being heard. This resulted in approximately $10,000 back to the membership from pay claims.

With the peak season rapidly approaching, members, stewards and agents are striving to be proactive. Prior to the trusteeship, two agents serviced more than 6,000 members at 44 UPS locations across three states. Under the trusteeship, member service has increased with six agents focusing on UPS. As a result, Local 710 members are really standing up for themselves and have become more comfortable asking questions. The agents have been working hard to make sure the members know their rights and that they have a strong team fighting tirelessly for them.

We’re working diligently to fix problems before we have problems. We’re really excited that our members are coming to us more and more and proud that they know we’re here for them.

Dennis Morse, Local 710 Business Agent

“Coming into the trusteeship, we knew right away that we needed to increase representation for such an expansive bargaining unit,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “Our team of UPS Business Agents is doing a phenomenal job of supporting our members by standing up to the challenge that is UPS, and it shows in the growing strength of the membership.”

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.
