Local 710 Gets YRC Driver Back to Work After 14 Weeks
Teamsters Win Back Pay for Member, Overturn Termination
A Teamsters Local 710 road driver at YRC Freight recently returned to work with back pay after being unjustly terminated and out of work for 14 weeks.
The member submitted a grievance regarding the termination with Local 710 Business Agent Mike Cales. After being heard at the local level panel, the grievance was deadlocked and moved to the Joint Area Committee (JAC) panel. The JAC arbitrator ruled in favor of the union to immediately reinstate the Teamster driver with back pay.
“It’s the Teamsters’ priority to ensure that our members are protected,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “Mike Cales worked extremely hard to do just that for our driver at YRC, and I know our business agents extend that dedication to each and every member we represent.”
Local 710 represents approximately 450 road drivers at YRC facilities in Chicago Heights and Wheeling.
Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
