Local 710 Meat Delivery Drivers Ratify Five-Year Contract
Teamsters Negotiate New Wage Increases, Health and Welfare Benefits
Meat drivers at five Chicago-area companies recently ratified a new five-year contract as members of Teamsters Local 710.
The agreement is retroactive to November 2014 and will expire in November 2019. The Teamster drivers will earn a $1.25 increase in hourly wages over the length of the contract, as well as a $300 signing bonus.
The agreement was ratified as part of the Meat Drivers Association, which helps protect area standard wages, benefits and working conditions.
“The meat industry is deeply rooted in the history of the City of Chicago, and every step of the way the Teamsters Union has been there to protect workers for generations,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “In this proud tradition, Local 710 has negotiated another strong contract for our drivers, who consistently stick together to improve their wages and rights in the workplace.”
Local 710 also successfully secured health and welfare benefits and contributions to member pensions in the union’s funds.
Thirteen additional meat delivery drivers outside of the Meat Drivers Association recently secured new contracts as well. Their contracts have been structured to follow Association drivers’ settlements.
