Teamsters at Canteen Chicago Vending Ratify 5-Year Agreement
Local 710 Members Increase Daily Guarantees, Secure Wage Increases
Approximately 100 Teamsters Local 710 members at Canteen Chicago Vending in suburban Bloomingdale overwhelmingly ratified a new five-year agreement by a 3-to-1 margin on July 1.
Workers earned a three percent increase on all hourly wages, plus an increase to their daily guarantee from $500 to $625. Local 710 also secured health and welfare benefits at the same cost as the previous agreement for the length of the five-year contract.
“Our members at Canteen Vending truly stuck together to ratify a strong new contract,” said Gary Abraham, Local 710 Business Agent. “Continuing the existing rate for health benefits and securing wage increases will really support all their hard work.”
Additionally, percentage drivers will receive an increase in their percentage of the total amount collected from the vending machines on their route. Any driver traveling over 450 miles per week will earn an extra $25, with drivers traveling over 700 miles per week earning an additional $50.
The vending routemen, mechanics and warehouse workers who work out of the Bloomingdale facility provide various vending services to the Chicago metropolitan area and northwest Indiana.
