Kronos Warehouse Workers & Drivers Ratify New Teamster Contract
Local 710 Improves Insurance Benefits, Secures Wage Increases
Twenty-six members of Teamsters Local 710 overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year contract with Kronos Foods at the end of last month.
The warehouse workers and distribution drivers who work out of the Glendale Heights facility will receive hourly wage increases over the three-year period, ending with a 50 cents per hour raise for the final year of the contract.
Members will also have increased benefits for short term disability, plus the additional availability of long term disability insurance benefits. Should an employee need to go on long term disability leave, they will receive 60 percent of their weekly earnings for as long as they need until they can return to work.
“The addition of long term disability benefits on top of improved short term disability benefits is truly a great achievement for these Teamsters with this new contract,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “Our dedicated members can rest easy knowing their job is secure even in the event an emergency prevents them from going to work.”
All Kronos Teamsters will receive a $200 ratification bonus. Other benefits are being maintained by the current contract language, including contributions to a 401(k) and healthcare coverage under the Chicago Truck Drivers Union.
The warehouse workers and drivers at Kronos Foods work to distribute Mediterranean-inspired food products to restaurants and retailers across the country. Employees at Kronos have been Teamsters for 20 years.
