Updates from the IBT Political Coordinator’s Conference

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and House Education and Labor Committee Chairman Congressman Bobby Scott (D-Va.) were joined by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) and Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.) in calling for pension reform and standing up for workers on the job during afternoon talks at the 2019 Teamsters Political Coordinator’s Conference. Leader Hoyer told attendees, “The days of the peoples’ House not standing with organized labor are over.”

11:38 a.m.

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) and Congressman Pete King (R-NY), both co-sponsors of multiemployer pension reform legislation, told attendees at the 2019 Teamster political coordinator meeting this morning they are optimistic the bill will pass the House soon. They praised the Teamsters for their work on the issue.

Later, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, talked about the need for more infrastructure funding and the upcoming highway bill.
