NOTICE OF NOMINATION AND ELECTION
FOR OFFICERS OF LOCAL 710 IBT

A General Membership Meeting of Local 710 IBT will be held for the purpose of nominating candidates for the Secretary-Treasurer (Principal Officer), President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, three (3) Trustees and four (4) Business Agents of Local 710 IBT. The terms of office for these officers will begin on January 1, 2018 and will end on December 31, 2020, depending on the date the Local is released from trusteeship.

Nominations must be made and seconded at the Nomination Meeting by a member in good standing other than the nominee. A member unable to attend may nominate or second a nomination in writing. A member must accept his/her nomination at the meeting or, if unable to attend, in writing. Any such written nominations, seconds and acceptances must be received by mail by the Trustee by 4:30 PM on September 22, 2017 c/o Local 710 or hand delivered to the Trustee by 12 Noon on September 24, 2017, before the start of the Nomination Meeting. No member may accept nomination for more than one position.
To nominate or second a candidate or otherwise participate in the nomination meeting, a member must have his/her dues paid up through the month of August 2017 and must be an active member on the day of the nomination meeting. Eligibility to nominate or second a nomination may be restored by full payment of dues arrearages on or before September 22, 2017 at 4:00 PM at the offices of Local 710. Prospective candidates are advised to verify their eligibility with the Trustee, in advance of the nomination meeting. Although a potential candidate must verify his/her eligibility with the Trustee directly, a computer run will be available at the nominations meeting for prospective candidates to verify the eligibility of his/her nominators and seconders. Candidates are encouraged to provide the representative from Global Election Services with the names of their nominators and seconders in writing prior to the opening of nominations. A meeting for all candidates will take place immediately following nominations with the representative from Global Election Services.
To be eligible to be elected for any office in Local 710, a member must be in continuous good standing in Local 710 and actively employed in a craft within the jurisdiction of Local 710 for a period of 24 consecutive months prior to September 2017 and must be eligible to hold office if elected. This requirement includes the timely payment of dues for the 24-month period, together with no interruption in active membership in Local 710 because of suspension, expulsions, withdrawals, transfers or failure to pay fines or assessments. Candidates shall have the right to campaign and appear on the ballot as members of a slate.
A member on dues check off will not lose good standing as a result of a delay or default in the employer’s transmittal of dues to the Local Union or because of an employer’s failure to make the proper deductions in any month in which the member has earnings from which deductions could have been made. Members in a reserve component of the military or National Guard who are called to active service lasting more than thirty (30) days but not more than twenty-four (24) consecutive months, may have their eligibility determined in accordance with Article II, Section 4(a)(4) of the International Constitution.
This election shall be held in accordance with the Local 710 Bylaws, and the IBT International Constitution and the election rules adopted by the appointed Trustee of Local 710. Elected officers of Local 710 shall, by virtue of such election, be delegates to Joint Council 25.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Election for officers of Local 710 shall be by a secret ballot, conducted by mail referendum. The printing, mailing, receiving and tabulating of all ballots shall be conducted by Global Election Services. In order to vote in the election, a member must be in good standing and have paid his/her dues through September 2017. Members may pay all dues arrearages, initiation or reinstatement fees, at the Local 710 office until 4:00 PM on October 30, 2017.
Ballots will be mailed to each active member of Local 710, at that member’s last known address, on or about October 5, 2017. Returned voted ballots from members of Local 710 must be received by Global Election Services no later than 9 AM on Tuesday October 31, 2017 to be counted in this election.
Members who do not receive a ballot in the mail by October 10, 2017, may request a replacement ballot be sent to them. Members can telephone Global Election Services at 1-800 864-1263 Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM Central Time up until 5:00 PM on October 24, 2017 to request a duplicate ballot. Member must call personally and will receive a confirmation number. If more than one ballot is received from a member, the ballot marked “duplicate” will be accepted.

Una reunión General de miembros del Local 710 IBT se llevará a cabo con el propósito de la presentacion de candidatos para el Secretario-Tesorero (Director), Presidente, Vicepresidente, Secretario de Actas, tres (3) Síndicos y cuatro (4) Agentes de Negocios del Local 710 IBT. El mandato de estos oficiales se iniciará el 1 de enero 2018 y terminará el 31 de diciembre 2020, dependiendo de la fecha en que el Local sea liberado de la tutela.

Las nominaciones deben ser hechas y secundadas en la Reunión de Nominación por un miembro en buen estado que no sea el nominado. Un miembro incapaz de asistir puede nominar o secundar una nominación por escrito. Un miembro debe aceptar su nominación en la reunión o, si no puede asistir, por escrito. La elegibilidad para nominar o secundar una nominación se puede restaurar con el pago completo de las cuotas atrasadas el 22 de septiembre de 2017 o antes de las 4:00 PM en las oficinas del Local 710. Se recomienda a los posibles candidatos verificar su elegibilidad con el Fideicomisario, Antes de la reunión de nominación. Aunque un candidato potencial debe verificar directamente su elegibilidad con el Fideicomisario, un programa informático estará disponible en la reunión de nominaciones para candidatos potenciales para verificar la elegibilidad de sus nominadores y secundarios. Se anima a los candidatos a que proporcionen al representante de Global Election Services los nombres de sus nominadores y de los secundarios por escrito antes de la apertura de las nominaciones. Los miembros de un componente de reserva de los militares o de la Guardia Nacional que sean llamados al servicio activo con una duración de más de treinta (30) días, pero no más de veinticuatro (24) meses consecutivos, podrán ser elegidos de conformidad con el Artículo II, Sección 4 (a) (4) de la Constitución Internacional.
Esta elección se llevará a cabo de acuerdo con los Estatutos del Local 710 y la Constitución Internacional de IBT y las reglas de elección adoptadas por el Síndico designado del Local 710. Los funcionarios electos del Local 710 serán, en virtud de dicha elección, delegados al Joint Council 25.
ELECCIÓN DE LA OFICIALES
La elección para los oficiales del Local 710 será por votación secreta, conducida por referéndum por correo. La impresión, envío, recepción y tabulación de todas las papeletas serán conducidas por los Global Election Services. Para poder votar en la elección, un miembro debe estar en buen estado y haber pagado sus cuotas hasta septiembre de 2017. Los miembros pueden llamar a Global Election Services al 1-800 864-1263 de lunes a viernes de 9 AM a 5PM Central Time hasta las 5:00 PM del 24 de octubre de 2017 para solicitar una boleta por duplicado.
