Bayleigh A. White, daughter of Teamsters Local 710 member David White, recently won the 2015-2016 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship. Bayleigh is one of three Local 710 family members to receive a $1,000 scholarship awarded to high school seniors.

Bayleigh has just begun her college career at Saint Louis University majoring in biology and is on a path to medical school. She graduated third in her class at Mount Zion High School this spring with a 4.76 grade point average. She was involved in numerous extracurricular activities and clubs including National Honors Society, Rotary Youth Leadership and Drama Club, and was the captain of the Pom Squad.

Bayleigh’s father David is a Local 710 UPS Feeder Driver and Steward out of the Decatur, Ill. facility. “Bayleigh has always done her mom and I proud and has worked hard during her scholastic years,” said David. “It is so nice that a scholarship from the former head of a working class organization can help a young girl that exemplifies that work ethic instilled in her by her Teamster father.”

Tiffany Hill, daughter of Local 710 ABF member Paul Hill, and Jacob Van Horn, son of Local 710 UPS member Brent Van Horn, were also awarded scholarships.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana. Joint Council 25 is proud to support the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 1999 to provide scholarships to the children and dependents of Teamster members.
