JFC Distribution Drivers Ratify Contract

Local 710 Negotiates Higher Wages, Bonuses for Asian Food Company

Annual wage increases and stronger retirement contributions are just some of the benefits of workers’ new Teamster contract at JFC Foods International in Hanover Park, Ill.

Approximately 10 distribution drivers represented by Teamsters Local 710 overwhelmingly ratified the agreement. The contract, which was first voted upon in September 2014, required some clarification and was finalized this week. All provisions of the agreement are retroactive to September 1. The five-year agreement includes hourly wage increases of 75 cents each year, continued health and welfare coverage, weekly contributions to workers’ 401(k) retirement plans provided by the employer and $1,000 contract signing bonuses.

“This is a strong contract for a great group of hardworking members at JFC International,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “As the economy continues to improve across Illinois and the nation, the Teamsters remain committed to securing stronger wages and better benefits for our members in every single industry.”

The contract also includes overtime raises for delivery drivers making overnight runs to markets and distribution centers outside of northern Illinois. JFC International, with facilities around the world, is a leading distributor of fresh and shelf-stable Asian food products. The Teamster distribution drivers deliver products to local restaurants across seven states.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
