Withdrawal Card Request

Please note that there has been a recent change to the Local 710 Bylaws. As of November 6, 2019, there is NO charge to members in good standing who request a withdrawal card.

When to request a withdrawal card:

A member may request a withdrawal card when the member leaves their industry because of retirement, resignation, layoff or discharge, and is in good standing with the Local.

Additionally, a member who goes on Workers Compensation becomes eligible for a withdrawal card when the member is no longer receiving benefits under a collective bargaining agreement (“CBA”), and the member is therefore no longer covered by the CBA. Likewise, a member is eligible for a withdrawal card when they have exhausted their FMLA or other leave of absence, and are no longer covered by a CBA.

Finally, seasonal part time members do not need to request a withdrawal card after completion of the season.

Member’s Responsibility:

When a member returns to active duty after withdrawal or suspension, it is the member’s responsibility to inform the Union of his or her return to active duty.

Suspension:

When a member does not request a withdrawal card, and dues are not collected for three (3) consecutive months, the member shall be placed into suspension status, and will not be considered a member in good standing. When the member becomes active, the member shall be responsible for three (3) months of dues and retention fee. If the member becomes active and does not inform the Union of his or her return to work, the member shall be responsible for all months forward as well.

Please do not hesitate to call Local 710 to discuss your right to take a withdrawal card, and how doing so can reduce or eliminate the potential for the obligation to pay back dues and a retention fee if a break in service occurs.

Please provide the following information to Local 710 to obtain an official withdrawal card. A withdrawal card ensures no dues are collected when you are not an active member of the union.

You may obtain a withdrawal card in one of the following ways:

  1. Send a letter to the union hall with the above information requesting a withdrawal card be mailed to you.
