Twenty-seven drivers represented by Teamsters Local 710 overwhelmingly ratified their third contract at Nationwide Rail Services in Burr Ridge in February 2015.

Over the length of the five-year contract, all workers’ wages will be brought in line with the highest wage scale. As a result, the majority of Teamsters will receive a substantial wage increase. In addition, Nationwide Rail will match a portion of the employees’ weekly contributions to a 401(k) and provide strengthened and improved work rules with regard to discipline.

The Local 710 drivers at Nationwide Rail provide transportation assistance between three UPS Freight locations and railyards in South Holland, Bedford Park, and Palatine.

“It’s always important to ensure that wages and benefits are fair at any given company, and the drivers at Nationwide Rail have achieved just that with this new contract, in addition to maintaining a solid agreement with their employer,” said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 710. “The Teamsters Union is proud of our members at Nationwide Rail for their exemplary work ethic and unity.”

The new contract also includes many benefits being maintained by the current contract language. Drivers are covered by the healthcare plans provided by the Chicago Truck Drivers Union, working a minimum of 40 hours per month to receive coverage. Nationwide Rail pays 75 percent of employee healthcare coverage.

Teamsters Local 710 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
